Welcome to Flourish! As both a parent and a doctor, I understand that getting to know your child’s healthcare provider is very important. At Flourish, we promise to be open and honest with you, and we want to get to know you and your family, too.
My Background:
My parents were both in the medical field growing up, my mom a nurse and my dad an
... more N. Watching them care for their patients both inside and outside of the office and hospital inspired me from a very early age. In high school, I volunteered in the pediatric ward of our local hospital and took an immediate interest in the field. After that, I never wavered from wanting to be a pediatrician.
I attended college at Xavier University of Louisiana and then graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in 2005. After medical school, I completed my General Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. A job in the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta emergency department brought me to Atlanta in 2011. A few years ago, I decided to work as a primary care pediatrician in the North Fulton area while also continuing to serve as a pediatric emergency physician when needed. I currently live in Roswell with my husband and son (our daughter is in college!) and I enjoy yoga, traveling and interior design.
Why I Do What I Do:
While I’ve always been healthy and active, my parents passed away when I was young and that motivated me to learn and understand medicine and its role in preventing and treating conditions in a different way. Instead of being “reactive,” I decided that’s it’s extremely important to be “proactive.” This mindset shift led me on a path to improve some of my own family’s lifestyle habits and behaviors, paying more attention to things like sleep, diet, stress and exercise. This eventually led me to become a board-certified Lifestyle Medicine physician, and I’ve been implementing these health pillars, along with traditional medicine practices, with patients and families ever since.
Working in different aspects of medicine has also helped me understand that while medication is necessary at times, there may also be other things that could improve health, too. Considering the entire person and their behaviors is critical when determining general wellness practices and condition-specific treatment options. By personalizing my approach to health and medicine, I’m able to treat my patients more effectively—and also help families develop healthy, sustainable habits over time.
I am very passionate about this approach to pediatric wellness. I can’t wait to be part of your team, and help you and your family “flourish.”
